SafeBoatingCard Privacy Policy

SafeBoatingCard, a division of Mainstream Engineering, is committed to protecting the privacy of its users.

Because we collect information from those users who take the online certification exam, we want to inform you of our privacy policy.

What information do we require?

You are required to submit personal information only when you enroll to take the boater safety education certification exam. Given that boating certification is overseen by federal and state agencies, and we are an approved provider of this boating safety education course, we request the following information: legal name, current address, telephone number, date of birth, and, if required by the state agency, additional information such as your gender.

To set up your account, communicate test information, or process payment, we require the following: an email address, a valid credit card number with the name as it appears on the card, and an expiration date.

How do we use your information?

The personal information is only disclosed to federal and state agencies that maintain a list of certified boaters as required to fulfill your certification. Your credit card information is used only for the certification exam fees. No personal or contact information is shared with third-party agencies other than those federal or state agencies that oversee boat safety education courses and require the information to complete your certification.

The confidentiality, security, and integrity of your information are of utmost importance to us.

What is your policy concerning privacy, internet use, and children?

Because children may be taking the online boating certification exam, we ask that parents review the privacy policy and terms of the contract. SafeBoatingCard.com complies with the standards set forth by the Federal Trade Commission's COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act.

Information that we collect from children:

  • Name, addess (mail and email), and telephone number
  • Date of birth and, depending on the state, gender

Please note that we collect information actively (that is, from the child) and not through the use of cookies.

We enable parents and guardians to access the personal information provided by children:

  • To edit that information or correct errors
  • To delete information
  • To request that information be deleted from the databases of SafeBoatingCard.com, however removal of this information may invalidate the certification if one was acquired.

Please note, to protect the identity of all minors, we require that anyone requesting information also provide documentation proving their relationship to the child.

How secure is your website?

Your personal and credit card information is safeguarded. We collect and transmit data using state-of-the art encryption to secure your data.
